Each day, The Picnic Basket offers a minimum of two homemade soups,
including our notorious Creamy Chicken Wild Rice (every Thursday). We also
offer two or three specials daily, often with items hot off the grill,
such as Tex-Mex burgers and Chicken Fajita Subs. We pride ourselves on our
wide selection of original sandwiches, including the infamous #4 and the
Sunken Sub. Compliment your meal with a side of one of our unique, gourmet
salads and your palate is sure to be sated.
Guests are welcome to dine-in at The Picnic Basket, which has a friendly,
cozy, atmosphere. Phone ahead orders, fax orders and carry out are also
available. During the warmer months, check out our “Overflow Seating” at
one of the picnic tables across the street in beautiful Cook Park.
The Picnic Basket takes the utmost care in preparing the best quality food
that is healthy, nutritious and delicious. All items are prepared daily
with freshly baked breads, hand selected vegetables and fruits, and
premium meats and cheeses. In fact, eating healthy never tasted so good.
All items are prepared on location, ensuring freshness, taste, and
quality. Our food is always fresh, always fast, and always fun!
Gourmet Food Works
Gourmet Food Works is a Picnic Basket Company serving
Chicago and the northern suburbs since 1980. We have recently adopted a
new name, Gourmet Food Works, to accent who we are and what we do. The
name may be new, but the food is still deliciously and attractively
prepared with only the finest ingredients and we continue to offer the
friendly, courteous, prompt service you have come to expect.
We have created
several unique but simple menu ideas that are practical yet economical,
providing irresistible tastes that satisfy every guest. Unlike others, we
don't fill our menus with food items you can't even pronounce just to
impress you. We have adopted a principle of truly American dining
that can be understood by every client. Every menu presented by us is a
proven winner. If you have a special request, theme, or ambience in mind,
we will create it for you and develop buffet design and menu ideas that
will compliment your theme.
Whether it is a
party for 20 or 2,000 guests, we at Gourmet Food Works will pay complete
attention to every detail to make sure all your catering needs are
fulfilled.

Dedicated Staff
We want to publicly acknowledge our exceptional staff at

several years, and our heartfelt thanks goes out to every single
employee—from the kitchen staff who continue to amaze us, to the servers,
drivers, administrative, and front of the house operations staff who
effortlessly manage logistics for several customers and events daily. All
